A fundraising initiative is aiming to launch a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The project aims to provide aid to people in Gaza while also showcasing Palestinian culture and creativity.

A Chance for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"

Renowned figure Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to support Palestinians over the Christmas period. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“That would be amazing if that occurred, yes,” he commented. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it doesn't manage to, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”

Resilient Spirit of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's resilient spirit.

“It has a deeply meaningful spot for countless listeners,” Barghouti explained. “The message is that I would rather die in dignity than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we seek to lead a respectful existence that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Production History and Featured Artists

The song was recorded after a solidarity show held in late summer. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the rendition was omitted from the lengthy event due to scheduling overruns.

The notable list of musicians contributing to Lullaby includes a range of well-known figures from the music world. All participated in the benefit event, which reportedly raised a considerable total for charitable causes.

Production and Release

Lullaby was produced by a team of music creators. The song blends a mix of the heritage language with freshly written English words.

The group managing the project have emphasized that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These resources will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an partnering humanitarian organization.

“There is no a specific target,” a spokesperson explained. “We will pursue the maximum achievable. Of course, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to Gaza.”

The situation in the area was described as its widespread damage, with a overwhelming percentage of property described as in ruins or severely impacted.

“Against that backdrop, a couple of million doesn’t make that much difference. But I think what does make a difference is first of all making this cause better known and demonstrating the human dimension of the story.”
